Collection: From Street to Knit - Urban Knit Art

Lawsgroup has commissioned street art gallery L’Epicerie Fine HK, to present a curated group show presenting three street artists from Hong Kong and France, as part of the French May Arts Festival 2022.

From Street to Knit – Urban Knit-Art, introduces established artists and artworks by Bao Ho (HK), Binokl (FR) and Le Cyklop (FR). This show presents fifteen exclusive artworks created by the artists, alongside fifteen original knit-artworks produced by Lawsgroup and inspired by the original artworks.

The artists have worked on their original mediums to create new artworks; Digital sketches for Bao Ho, works on paper and canvases with spray paint and acrylic for Binokl, and sculptures for Le Cyklop, all transcribed into the medium of original knit-art.

Rich in its history of cultivating silk and producing textiles, China has remained an important place for the textile industry and its ‘Savoir Faire’.  Lawsgroup has for nearly 50 years been a part of both the heritage and innovation of the textile industry, with its knowledge and techniques continually evolving.

This unique collaboration between different entities brings firstly, a cultural exchange in the combination of Hong Kong and French street artists’ works, and secondly, a technical exchange showcasing both the expertise and possibilities of knit-art creation. An amazing opportunity to present new mediums in the contemporary art industry for the artists, the original knit-artworks bridge the creations into three dimensional entities and fine embroidery. It pushes the limits of creation even further than what the artists could have imagined.

For the first time ever, all three artists’ works will be created into original knit-art and presented to the public. From 2D knit-art on canvas to 3D volume knit-art, this special collaboration brings freshness into the art world. The original and authentic Creation and collaboration are more important than ever in the present time.
