Collection: The Streets of Lockdown
L’Epicerie Fine HK, in collaboration with The Stallery and supported by Alliance Française de Hong Kong, is excited to present a new curated group exhibition titled “The Streets of Lockdown” and is to be part of this year’s The French May 2021 Associated Projects once again.
This new show will introduce eleven established and emerging French street artists to Hong Kong viewers and collectors. After having presented them in past exhibitions and for The French May 2020, these artists are coming up with new artworks especially for this occasion. This group exhibition will highlight their personal works, their evolution within the past year and their personal backgrounds from the French perspective - with colorful and impactful artworks made within these difficult times and its restrictions.
This group show’s main goal is to present the diversity of their street artworks and their different skills as they all come from myriads of artistic backgrounds. The selection was made by L’Epicerie Fine HK to present a diverse French street art scene from various different regions of France - from Paris to Montpellier with other artists based in Rennes and Le Havre. Every single one of them worked with us directly and collaboratively for this exhibition with exclusive, new artworks.
Culture is now more than ever essential for getting through lockdown - and with the Covid-19 pandemic taking over our lives and culture venues being closed for several months all around the world, we as human beings persisted thanks to all the forms of art from music, movies, books to visual arts. We hope this exhibition viewed in person or online would inspire its audiences, giving small comforts to those who are suffering and to let them know they are not alone.
More than fifty artworks will be presented at the exhibition, with a large array of different skills such as spray painting, stencil art, collages, acrylic on canvas to fine art prints and limited edition works. Artist such as Kurar or Binokl will be presented for the first time ever in Hong Kong, alongside with others who have previously presented with us such as Ardif, Tim Marsh, Romain Froquet and Jo Di Bona with completely new works.
The exhibition will be open to public for a month and commence on Saturday 8th of May until Sunday 6th of June 2021 at The Stallery.
